As a lifetime fisherman, I''ve used many spinning reels. The Penn Sargus Series reel is the best spinning reel I have used in the $100 and under price range. The Penn Sargus feels like a $300 spinning reel in the hand! It is tight as a bank vault, and smooth as silk ...not to mention one of the best looking reels on the market with the matte black and gunmetal gray finish. I use the Sargus 5000 spinning reels for casting to Red Salmon and Silver Salmon in the rivers here in Alaska. I use the larger Sargus 7000 reels for trolling for Silver Salmon and King Salmon offshore. You wont find a better reel for under $100. Heck, you might not find a better reel for under $300!
